Klemt is the artistic name of Clément Tissier, a French painter.
Trained in drawing in Brussels and then in animation at Supinfocom, he has dedicated himself fully to painting since 2012.
His work explores silent worlds, strange yet familiar at the same time. Between landscapes, architectures and human figures, his works evoke an off-kilter reality, as if suspended in time between memory and dream.
Through drawing and painting, Klemt explores the place of the human being in their environment and those moments where reality seems to tip over into the imaginary.
Born in Reims, he now lives and works in Limoges.
"My paintings are fragments of worlds that could exist.
I am less concerned with telling a story than with creating a feeling: that of a memory one recognises without quite being able to place it, of a familiar place that has become strange, of a moment that seems to have escaped time.
My characters are often alone in the face of spaces that overwhelm them. Architecture, landscape and light therefore become narrative elements in their own right.
Each work is an invitation to enter that space between what we know and what we imagine."
